- Check out this article by CJ Watson Grassrootsballin to see the All-Tournament Teams from this weekend's Spalding Hoophall Classic. Fifteen players make up the three teams, with studs such as Derrick Favors '09, Keith "Tiny" Gallon '09, and Josh Selby '10 on the first team and other big-timers like Xavier Henry '09, Lance Stephenson '09, DeMarcus Cousins '09, and Kenny Boynton '09 making the list.
- Another major even kicks off this Friday evening, as the Prime Time Shootout begins at 5:00pm EST on the 23rd at the RAC at Rutgers University with a game between Steve Rennard '10 and St. Joseph's Metuchen (NJ) and Theo Riddick '09, a Notre Dame commit for football, and his Immaculata (NJ) squad. The other games on tap that night are:
6:30pm EST- Duncanville (TX), the preseason #1 team in America, featuring Texas-signee Shawn Williams '09 and Baylor-commit
Perry Jones '10 against LeFlore (AL), which is led by DeMarcus Cousins '09
8:00pm EST- Fordham-bound Lance Brown '09 and Paterson Catholic (NJ) will look to pick up a big win over national powerhouse Lincoln (NY), which features Lance Stephenson '09. Lincoln, and the aforementioned Duncanville, have both been struggling lately, so these games will be tests to see if the squads can get back on track.
9:30pm EST- While the last matchup of the night between Piscataway (NJ) and Plainfield (NJ) doesn't have the national appeal as the two game proceeding it, this one may end up as the best game of the PTS opening evening. It is a showdown between two North Jersey II Group IV teams, the best public school section in the state, and the two are the class of it. The winner of NJII Group IV will likely make the TOC, as most of the best Group IV teams are in this grouping. The game will show whether guard play—Plainfield's trio of Tyrone Johnson '11, Pitt-commit Isaiah Epps '10, and Anthony Baskerville is deadly—or big men—Piscataway has Wayne Newsom '10, Tristan Benjamin '09, and Aaron Hush '09—will take the cake.
- Kyrie Irving '10 will make his debut as a St. Patrick's (NJ) Celtic on Thursday, when the Garden State powerhouse hosts Newark Tech (NJ). While the game shouldn't be tough for Kevin Boyle's group, it will be interesting to see just how much Irving, a fantastic talent, helps the TOC favorite.
