What's Left in the Class of 2009?
by Alex Schwartz
I took a look at the Rivals 150 as well as the site's top 10 by position. As one of the best basketball recruiting sites out there, I figured I'd use it to show you all what is in the class of 2009:
- Of the top 10 by position, there are just eight players left (1 PG, 1 SG, 1 SF, 3 PF, 2 C).
- Of the 25 five-star prospects, there are only six uncommitted players, all of which are in the top 15, five of which are in the top 10, and three of which are ranked in the top four.
- There are 12 total uncommitted players in the top 100, as there are six four-stars who have yet to pick a school. There are no uncommitted players outside of the top 15 until you get to number 50 in the rankings, meaning that there are seven top 50 ballers left.
- There are six three-star prospects ranked between 101 and 150 who are undecided on their college destination, making it 18 of the Rivals 150 who are left for the taking.
- Of the uncommitted players, four of them—DeMarcus Cousins (UAB.), Eric Bledose (Ole Miss), Jared Cunningham (Arizona State), and DaShonte Riley (Georgetown)—have de-committed earlier in the recruiting process.
- Of the 132 players who have selected a college, only one—Dominic Cheek (Villanova)—made his decision after the early signing period ended.
- Of the 18 uncommitted players in the Rivals 150, there are three each from California and Illinois, two each from Alabama and North Carolina, and one each from Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
- Four point guards, three shooting guards, two small forwards, five power forwards, and four centers make up the 18 uncommitted ballers in the Rivals 150.
