Dominic Cheek to Villanova; Best Class in America?

by Alex Schwartz

As I'm sure you all already know by now, 6'6 wing Dominic Cheek '09 of St. Anthony's (NJ) has verbally committed to Villanova. The highly touted scorer selected the Wildcats over Kansas, while Pitt, Rutgers, and Memphis were also considered. Cheek's commitment gives Jay Wright and Co. arguably America's best recruiting class. Their four class of 2009 commits, three of whom (all but Cheek) have signed their National Letter of Intent, are point guard Maalik Wayns of Roman Catholic (PA), as well as high school teammates power forward Mouphtaou Yarou and power forward Isaiah Armwood of Montrose Christian (MD). This class rivals North Carolina's which has been the consensus number one for quite some time, as it includes combo guard Dexter Strickland of St. Patrick's (NJ), power forward John Henson of Sickles (FL), shooting guard Leslie McDonald of Briarcrest Christian (TN), and twin brother power forwards David and Travis Wear of Mater Dei (CA). Again, Dominic Cheek has pledged his services to the Villanova Wildcats.
