Scott to Miami; Gallon to Oklahoma; Lacy to Providence; Jones to Virginia Tech & More
by Alex Schwartz
Some of America's best seniors took their names off the board today by picking their future college. I first saw on SNY.tv that shooting guard Durand Scott of Rice (NY) had committed to Miami over UConn and Pitt. It was on Scout that I first saw some other major commitments: center Keith "Tiny" Gallon of Oak Hill Academy (VA) selected Oklahoma, point guard Johnnie Lacy of Notre Dame Prep (VA) chose Providence, Lamont "MoMo" Jones of Oak Hill Academy (VA) picked Virginia Tech, small
forward Mike Moser—a former Arizona-commit— chose UCLA, and Chris Colvin of Whitney Young (IL) decided on Iowa State. Those were the main six pieces to make a decision today, the last day of the early signing period. The choices of both Gallon and Scott were correctly projected yesterday by Northstar Basketball, though I was wrong on Lacy. Thus, it's now 17 (including Abdul Gaddy, who did commit to Arizona before de-committing) of 32 projections correct for Northstar Basketball, with four players picking the school I had at second in line. Of the 40 players I have made projections for, just eight are uncommitted. Once again, in a busy day in the world of high school basketball, Durand Scott picked Miami, Keith "Tiny" Gallon chose Oklahoma, Johnnie Lacy selected Providence, Lamont "MoMo" Jones decided on Virginia Tech, Mike Moser committed to UCLA, and Chris Colvin picked Iowa State.
