I received word tonight from multiple sources tonight that Shannon Givens '09, a Drexel-commit, has left Academy of the New Church (PA). One source informed me that the 5'11 point guard is now at Phoenixville (PA), a school near King of Prussia. It seems that this has been in the works for about a week. Shannon's older brother Samme Givens, is currently a freshman at Drexel. What makes this story quite interesting is that the head boys' basketball coach at ANC is Kevin Givens, the father of Shannon and Samme. Coach Givens will now have to rely on guard play from Kenny Ross '09, while Savon Goodman '12 and Malcolm Gilbert '11 may well be the focal point of the offense. Once again, in news being first reported by Northstar Basketball, Shannon Givens has left Academy of the New Church for Phoenixville.
