News & Notes

by Alex Schwartz

- I first saw on ESPNU that ultra-talented combo guard Kenny Boynton '09 of American Heritage (FL) had committed to the Florida Gators tonight, just as Northstar Basketball predicted in both late August and early October. Many people think that Boynton will be one-and-done in college.

- After de-committing from Arizona for a second time not too long ago, point guard Abdul Gaddy '09 of Bellarmine Prep (WA) committed to Washington recently. You've got to feel for Gaddy, as he clearly had his mind set on Arizona. He committed there once before de-committing due to coaching instability and then re-committing about a month and a half before he once again de-committed after Head Coach Lute Olsen resigned. In fact, Gaddy even told me back in mid-July that Arizona was his dream school.

- Jeff Borzello of March Madness All Season has been doing a great job of previewing the upcoming college basketball season. He has conference previews, player rankings, and more, and it's definitely worth taking a look.

- On the topic of what to look at for college basketball information, Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.net has had number of interesting videos of interviews that he conducted at Big East Media day. Zagoria spoke with Villanova Head Coach Jay Wright, Syracuse Head Coach Jim Boehiem, Rutgers Head Coach Fred Hill, St. John's Head Coach Norm Roberts, Seton Hall Head Coach Bobby Gonzalez, Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino, Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III, and Rutgers junior Hamady N'Diaye to name a few.
