David Laury Recovering; The Nia School Looking Good
by Alex Schwartz
As I just reported, Markens Charles '09 and Jerry Coriolan '09 are transferring out of The Nia School (NJ), while David Laury '09 is staying put there. Laury, who fractured his hand and wrist about two weeks in news first reported by Northstar Basketball, told me today that "it's doing [well]," adding that he is out for "just one more week." The 6'7 wing said he "just can't wait to get back to working on [his] game." David, a coveted mid-major prospect, said that all he has been able to do is "running . . . [and] working with [his] left hand during practice." During my conversation via text message with Laury, I asked him how The Nia School's squad is shaping up: "We're looking pretty good. We have a good group of guys with a bunch of weapons. As long as we play together we should have a great team." David informed me that he has "no idea" who the starting five will be for the team, as "the coaches haven't made that decision yet."
