News & Notes

- Tobias Harris '10 of Long Island Lutheran (NY) informed me that his visit to West Virginia last weekend was "nice," adding  that "it went real well," and he "liked everything about it." Harris is one of the most highly sought after players on the East Coast, and has a long list of schools, 11 of which are at the top.

- The nation's top players in the class of 2009 are beginning to fly off the board. In just the last four days, four five-star prospects on Rivals have committed: Jordan Hamilton (Texas), Ryan Kelly (Duke), Thomas Robinson (Kansas), and Daniel Orton (Kentucky). In fact, just nine of Rivals' five-stars are uncommitted, 11 of the top 40, and 14 of the top 65 in total have yet to make their decisions. As well, of Rivals' top 10 players at each position, there are only 14 remaining players.

- Markus Kennedy '10 is settled in at Living Faith (NJ), a part of APEX Academies (NJ), after his transfer from St. Patrick's (NJ) a few weeks ago. The 6'8 big man went to Living Faith so that he could be closer to his home, which is just outside of Philadelphia.

- Shaq Thomas '10 has left Paterson Catholic (NJ) for Montclair (NJ). I had received word from a source with knowledge of the situation on Tuesday night that this was a "done deal," but when I called Thomas that night, he denied it being all set, saying that he was still unsure of whether or not he would transfer and to what school he would be headed to if he did. ZagsBlog.net though, reported on Wednesday that Thomas was indeed leaving PC for Montclair and that it was all done. So, once again, Shaq Thomas is now at Montclair (NJ), and according to ZagsBlog.net, will have to sit out for 365, per new New Jersey transfer rules.
