A two-sport star is breaking out in New Jersey. Dontae Johnson '10 of
The Pennington School (NJ), who transferred to the Garden State private school from South Plainfield (NJ) after his freshman year, will be a three-year starter in both football
and basketball for the Red Raiders. Johnson, who will either be
recruited as a safety or an athlete on the gridiron, already has
three touchdowns in two games for the 1-1 Red Raiders. Johnson has two
touchdown catches, one of which was about 70 yards and came on a
screen play, and also has a punt return for a touchdown. The Pennington
School is the alma mater of current Maryland Terrapin safety Dominique
Herald. Johnson, who had a solid summer with Team New Jersey ABC on the
AAU basketball circuit, lists Miami, Memphis, Michigan State, Maryland, Oregon, Georgia, UConn, North Carolina State, and Princeton (Johnson has a GPA of about 3.5) as the schools recruiting him for football.
