Interview Update on . . . Durand Scott- Considering Eight

by Alex Schwartz

I had the opportunity to briefly chat with Durand Scott '09 of Rice (NY) after his solid performance in the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Classic at Rucker Park in Harlem, New York. While I did not have much to talk with Scott about, we did quickly discuss where he stands with his recruitment. The talented 6'3 shooting guard shed some light on where he stands in the process. Have a look at the interview:

NB: Could you just let me know what schools you’re considering.
DS: Well, I’m down to eight [schools]. So, my eight are  UCLA, Tennessee, UConn, Memphis, Virginia, Miami, . . . Xavier [and] . . . [Pause] I can’t remember the last one . . . right now, but yeah, I know I’m definitely down to eight because I’m definitely trying to make my decision before my season starts, so that’s what it’s going to be.

NB: Have they all offered [you a scholarship]?
DS: Yeah, they definitely all [have] offered.

NB: Who would you say are your top three right now?
DS: I don’t really have a top three. They [are] all . . . [at] about the . . . same level. I’m just trying to narrow it down so I can get down to my top three and go from there. So, I don’t know yet.

Durand Scott is one of America's top uncommitted players, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up. I will be sure to keep you posted.

Note- According to Scott's profile on Rivals—which lists nine prime schools for him—the other schools he is considering are Louisville and Pitt. I think that Pitt is the college that Scott forgot.
