Summer Shootout: Trenton Central (NJ) vs. Ridge (NJ)
The game between Trenton Central and Ridge is already well underway. I was taking care of something and unfortunately missed much of the game. TCHS is 1-1 so far at the Summer Shootout, having beaten Notre Dame (NJ) and losing to Shabazz (NJ). Ridge lost their first matchup of the, in a low-scoring affair against Hightstown (NJ). Here’s how the game is going now, and I apologize, as I yet again only have numbers.
7:44pm- Andrew Madlinger ’10 just nailed a three for Ridge to cut the TCHS lead to 52-49 with slightly over three minutes to go.
7:45pm- Trenton Central scored at the other end to push it up to 54-49. Ridge answered with a deuce to cut it down to three points again, 54-51. The team then called a timeout with 2:30 left in regulation.
7:46pm- Eric Fanning ’11 scored in the low post, making it a five-point game.
7:47pm- Madlinger missed a trey with about 1:50 left. #4 then got the offensive rebound and was fouled going up with the ball. Ridge called a timeout to stop the clock. #4 will be at the line shooting two with 1:39 to play, trailing 56-51.
7:48pm- #4 missed all three of his shots, as a lane violation was called on TCHS on the second shot. The squad got the offensive rebound though, and Madlinger banged in a long two.
7:49pm- Fanning scored a deuce at one end. Madlinger answered with a trey. Fanning then scored two straight buckets, one of which came off a dunk on the fast break.
7:50pm- #5 scored a basket for TCHS and then #4 nailed a three for Ridge.
7:51pm- Trenton Central will get the win, 64-59.
Andrew Madlinger was far and away the game’s top scorer. The rising junior dropped 34 points, with 15 coming in the first half, including three triples. In the second half, Madlinger had 19 points, nailing five threes. To sum that up, Andrew Madlinger hit eight threes on his way to 34 points.
