School Lists
There were a handful of players at the AAU Super Showcase who I did not
interview, but did get school lists from. Here are the players and
their lists:
Doron Lamb '10, Bishop Loughlin (NY): Syracuse, Louisville, Xavier, St. John's, West Virginia, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Marquette, Duke, UConn, Miami, Florida, Texas, Memphis
Offers: Syracuse, Louisville, Xavier, St. John's, West Virginia, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Marquette, UConn, Miami, Florida, Texas, and Memphis
Favorites: Syracuse, Texas, and Memphis are his top three
Dream School: None
Note- Duke is the only school Lamb lists that has yet to offer a scholarship
Joseph Northington: Ole Miss and North Carolina
Offers: Ole Miss
Dream Schools: Wake Forest and North Carolina
Note- Northington said that shooting is the strongest point of his game, while rebounding is his weakest point
Taran Buie '10, Bishop Maginn (NY): Boston College, Clemson, Florida St., Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina St., Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Marquette, Rutgers, Providence, Villanova, Georgetown, Pitt, Louisville, St. John's, Seton Hall, St. Joseph's, Penn St., Texas, and Florida
Offers: Boston College, Clemson, Florida St., Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina St., Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Marquette, Rutgers, Providence, Villanova, Georgetown, Pitt, Louisville, St. John's, Seton Hall, St. Joseph's, and Penn St., and added "there are others" that he could not think of
Favorites: None, "[I] don't really have a favorite. . . . [I] am hoping to narrow down [my list] by the fall."
Dream School: North Carolina
Notes- The only ACC school that Buie specifically mentioned was Maryland. Instead, he just said "the whole ACC besides Duke and North Carolina" had offered him a scholarship. He added that "Maryland is one of [his] tops."
Keith Appling '10, Pershing (MI): Michigan St., Michigan, Memphis, Tennessee, Miami, Syracuse, Xavier, Oklahoma, and Arizona
Offers: Michigan St., Michigan, Tennessee, Miami, Xavier, and Oklahoma
Favorites: None, "I don't really have a favorite right now."
Dream School: "Growing up I watched Michigan St. a lot."
Andrew Fitzgerald '09, Owings Mills (MD): Oklahoma, Boston College, Louisville, Tennessee, Minnesota, Pitt, Baylor, Seton Hall, Xavier, and James Madison
Offers: Boston College, Minnesota, Pitt, Baylor, Seton Hall, Xavier, and James Madison
Favorites: None, "I don't have [any] favorites right now."
Dream School: None, "I don't have any dream school."
Phil Pressey '10: Texas, Pitt, Missouri, Marquette, Louisville, Providence, Wake Forest, Tennessee, Baylor, Florida, Maryland, and UConn
Offers: Missouri, Marquette, Louisville, Providence, Maryland, and UConn
Favorites: None, "No, not really."
Dream School: "[It] was North Carolina, but they already got a point guard [Kendall Marshall] in my class."
David Nyarsuk '10: No college interest
Notes- Nyarsuk, who plays for Blessed IJN (IN), is 7'1, and has been in America for just eight months. He picked up basketball six years ago, and is originally from Sudan. The big man is interested in playing college basketball. Nyarsuk, the cousin of Leek Leek and Deng Leek, is a solid, but raw talent who caught my eye and warrants some looks.
Russ Byrd '10: Louisville, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan St., Baylor, Wake Forest, Florida, Ohio St., Xavier, Notre Dame, and Butler
Offers: Louisville, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan St., Baylor, Wake Forest, and Notre Dame
Favorites: At first Byrd said, "I don't really have any favorites, . . . I'm still kind of open." He did go on to say, though, that Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, and Michigan St. are his top four
Dream School: None, "I don't have one."
Akeem Richmond '09: LSU, Wichita St., Central Florida, Georgia Tech, Georgia St., Syracuse, Kentucky, North Carolina St., Maryland, Tennessee, and West Virginia
Offers: LSU, Wichita St., Central Florida, Georgia Tech, Georgia St., and Syracuse
Favorites: LSU and Syracuse, with "probably Syracuse" at number one
Dream Schools: North Carolina and Tennessee
Notes- Richmond is taking an official visit to LSU on August 30th. Regarding Tennessee, Richmond said: "If they [were] to offer [me a scholarship], I'd commit."
Rodney Williams '09: Kansas, Minnesota, UConn, Miami, Memphis, Arizona, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin
Offers: Minnesota, UConn, Miami, and Wisconsin
Favorite: "I'll know after this tournament."
Dream School: "Probably North Carolina."
Note- A source told me that it will be very hard to get Williams away
from the University of Minnesota.
Marcus Jordan '09, Whitney Young (IL): Rice, Illinois-Chicago, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, SMU, and Illinois
Offers: Rice and Illinois-Chicago
Favorites: None
Dream School: "[I] don't really have one, . . . [somewhere] where the can prepare me for the next level, . . . the NBA or overseas. . . . If I could go anywhere, it would probably be Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, [or] Kansas, a school like that."
Note- I spoke with Jordan via phone and not in person, and thus there will be a separate feature article on him sometime soon.
